Before I tell you about today’s reset, a few words about the place itself, because it is truly unique. Villajoyosa (simply “La Vila” to the locals) translates to “Joyful Town.” And that’s no marketing hype. This town is famous for two things: chocolate (it’s home to the famous Valour factory) and the most colourful old town on the entire Spanish coast. Fishermen used to paint their houses in bright blues, purples, and yellows so they could spot them from their boats when returning from sea. Today, these colours create an incredible vibe that instantly shifts your energy.
Resting After an Intense Journey
After four days of intense trekking and dozens of rituals, my body simply asked for a break. I felt that all these changes—including the healing of my nose and hernia—needed a moment to settle within me. I chose Villajoyosa, and it was a bullseye. This town has a way of making you smile instantly. Instead of rushing somewhere, I just allowed myself to “be.”
That Nap in the Sun
I found a bench right on the beach. The space was vast, the sky cloudless, and the wind—surprisingly—had almost died down. I lay on my side, closed my eyes, and just drifted off. I remember that incredible warmth of the sun on my entire body. It spread over my head, my closed eyelids, everywhere. This wasn’t just lying down; it was pure regeneration. I felt that heat “repairing” me from the inside, while the sound of the sea cleared the clutter in my head.
Barefoot and the Water
When I finally got up, I took off my shoes. That was the best part of the day. I walked a long way along the shore, heading straight into the sun. The sand under my feet was soft, and the water alternately cooled and washed my legs.
Do you know what I felt? That with every step, I was giving back to the earth all the fatigue of the past few days and that old system that keeps us so tense. I walked barefoot, staring into the glare of the sun—which in January is gentle enough to allow it—and I felt simply free. No plan, no pressure, in full sovereignty. I performed a few of my rituals there, which had a completely different power in that space and silence.
The Return
I came back to the hotel with a sense of incredible lightness. This day in Villajoyosa showed me that sometimes the most happens when we seemingly do nothing—just lying in the sun and letting the sunlight and the beach do the rest for us.
