Positive news: The Dismantling of The British Crown

Moving Away from the Crown: A Geopolitical Dismantling

In recent years, we have been observing a process that can be called the final closing of the colonial era. This is no longer just symbolism; it is hard politics:

  • The Republican Movement in the Caribbean: After Barbados officially severed ties with the monarchy and became a republic, other countries, such as Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Belize, have openly announced legal steps aimed at removing the British monarch as head of state. It is a clear signal that the authority of the Royal Family has ceased to be the binding agent uniting former territories.

  • Australia and New Zealand: In these key countries, the debate on moving away from the monarchy has shifted from the margins to the political mainstream. The appointment of ministers for the republic is proof that this institution is perceived as a relic that does not fit modern national identity.
