Another 3-Hour Hike into the Nearby Hills
I am slowly getting used to these surrounding trails and views, yet still, every single time, I feel a profound distinctness in this landscape and its energy.
It is a completely different world. A strange feeling also accompanies me – it hasn't fully sunk in yet that I am retired. Subconsciously, I feel more as if this were simply another of my numerous past travels, rather than a new chapter of life. Today’s path has led me to Craigshannoch. The Granite Kingdom: Craigshannoch
Craigshannoch (rising to an altitude of 421 metres above sea level) is one of the most characteristic and prominent peaks in the entire Bennachie range. Its name derives from Gaelic and literally means the "Rock of Foxes" (Craig shenaich).
Geological Curiosity: The summit of Craigshannoch is famous for its unique, massive granite formations, which have shaped into incredible, layered platforms under the influence of thousands of years of frost and wind weathering. They look almost like stone slabs intentionally laid out by ancient builders, creating a raw, virtually geometric labyrinth amidst the heather.
Ritual of Light and Grounding on the Summit
As I stood on these sun-warmed, ancient slabs of granite under an endless, clear blue sky, I gifted myself a moment of full presence:
Posture: I sat comfortably on the rock, resting my hands on its smooth, stone surface. I felt its deep stability.
Breath and Visualisation: I closed my eyes. With each deep breath, I imagined pure, vibrant sunlight permeating my body and mind, dissolving all old programming and fatigue.
Anchoring: With the exhale, I directed a stream of gratitude deep into the earth, connecting with the powerful, stable energy of the entire mountain. I felt how deeply I was grounding my intentions for this new stage of life.
Affirmation of Space and New Beginnings
Opening my eyes to the space surrounding me, I inwardly spoke these words:
"I am fully aligned with the living energy of the sun and the infinity of the sky. With trust, I open myself to the space, peace, and new, harmonious synchronicities that this moment brings. I trust in the perfection of my time and place."
