A World Without Thought and Imagination
What remains when you switch off imagination, and with it the entire narrative of the mind – all the analyses, forecasts, memories, and judgements?
Bare, pure fact remains. Here and now.
The mind lives in time, in the fiction of 'tomorrow' and the shadow of 'yesterday'. Imagination constantly builds scenarios, creating fears and expectations. Yet when you shift your attention purely into the senses, something immediate happens: the world stops being a concept and becomes a direct, physical experience.
In a thoughtless here and now, there is no past to mend and no future to plan. There is the feel of the chair beneath your body, the sound of water in the pond, the green of the garden, and the sudden call of a pigeon. The senses cannot rush ahead or retreat into time – they operate solely in this single, concrete second.
A world without thought and imagination is not a deaf emptiness. It is a state of full, vivid intensity of presence. A place where you finally stop inventing your life and simply begin to be in it.
