Immersed in the Lightness of Vikend Naselje
The southern slopes of Kopaonik gently reveal their serene, quiet face to me, drawing me into the rhythm of a simple existence rooted in nature.
Wandering through the surrounding forests offers a soothing shelter from the sun, while the air remains infused with a soft, summer warmth. It is during the day, throughout these open walks, that I take full advantage of the sunlight. At this altitude, the sun never feels harsh, and my skin effortlessly takes on a warm, golden tan. For me, this communion with light is far more than a natural boost to vitamin D production for the months ahead—it is, above all, a conscious grounding of transforming solar codes.
The woodland paths bestow upon me the purest essence of the earth. I discovered a charming patch of bilberries, where on two occasions I gathered 600 grams of fresh, wild fruit for my morning meal. The season for bilberries is slowly drawing to a close as they soften, quietly yielding their place to ripening blackberries. Complementing this local bounty are immense, juicy red watermelons and sweet Gala melons—of a size rarely encountered elsewhere in Europe, readily available at my fingertips and remarkably inexpensive.
A true sense of expanse opened up before me the moment I found a trail leading into the unforested, open ridges. The view from these heights is a cascading panorama of mountain ranges stretching one after another all the way to the horizon. This raw, unsheltered space resounds with a powerful grounding energy that invites a profound quietening of the mind.
The daily sunsets have become an extraordinary crowning touch to each evening. Although I could easily watch them from my room, I always step outside to fully enter this evening spectacle of fading light and stillness.
My mornings have also acquired a new dimension. I came across a local sports pitch fitted with basketball hoops and goalposts, which has become my space for daily exercises and jogging. Running in the crisp, early sunshine at this altitude provides a remarkable surge of energy.
The entire environment feels incredibly light and energetically clear. The Serbs, who seem to make up the majority here, come to escape the stifling heat of the lowland cities, emanating a calm and genuine warmth. A silence reigns all around—a silence that is no empty void, but a rich, fulfilling space. The energies of this place effortlessly encourage grounding in the here and now, allowing one to abide in their own independent realm. I feel light, transparent, and filled with a vibrant, active energy.
